The Benefits of Membership

There are many benefits to joining an astronomy club, not least because you get to meet may others who have the same interest as you in astronomy. The club is open to 'newbies' as well as experienced amateurs and even professionals, and an interest in the hobby ranges from the occasional viewings with binoculars in the back garden to national events.

There has never been a better time to get to know the skies at night and to meet others!

The benefits of membership include:

- Meeting once a month with others interested in the hobby
- Drawing on the wealth of knowledge of the members
- Learning from experienced people how to read the night sky
- Contributing to a valuable hobby and having fun whilst you do so
- Helping others to appreciate the hobby and science of astronomy
-
Understand the night sky and appreciate its diversity and phenomenon
- Taking part in ad-hoc stargazing sessions and being kept informed of stargazing nights.

Membership costs just £20 per annum (from March) or £12 (from Sepember - March - Half year)

In order to take advantage of the benefits of membership please print off the (PDF) form, complete it, and bring it with you to the next meeting of Swindon Stargazers or, alternatively (especially when the club is not physically meeting), complete the (Word) form and send it by email to our our membership secretary Malcolm Woods. He will then advise on a payment method.
M45 - THE PLEIADES

The Pleiades is one of the most beautiful star clusters in the sky, sometimes called the Seven Sisters, it looks even more amazing with a small telescope or binoculars. The Pleiades is easily observed from the Swindon area, even with the naked eye.
